TextPublication details: Mati, San Miguel Zamboanga del Sur : School of Arts and Science, JH Cerilles State College 2025.Description: ix, 77 leavesSummary: This research explored how different leadership styles (authoritarian, democratic, and laissez-faire) influence the performance of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairpersons in certain barangays of Lapuyan, Zamboanga del Sur, from 2018 to 2023. Findings indicated a predominant use of the democratic style, albeit with aspects of other styles also evident. Notable performance was recorded in community development, though there was a clear need for enhancement in administrative functions. Statistical assessments indicated
significant differences in leadership styles and performance between barangays, with laissez-faire leadership demonstrating the strongest positive relationship with performance, especially in community development efforts. The study suggests that SK officials undergo leadership training that encompasses various styles, effective communication, and problem-solving skills, alongside improving monitoring frameworks, securing funding for youth initiatives, and fostering better collaboration. Further research should investigate the influence of emotional intelligence, cultural values, and demographic factors, and assess the effectiveness of training programs.
